Everyone is familiar with steel shots, how did he produce them? What are the processes going through from scrap steel or raw steel to steel shots? Let’s talk about it in general by Daya Metal. Cast steel shot
Commonly used models of steel shot
The process of steel shot granulation is the whole process, and the main methods at present are impact method, centrifugal method, and atomization method.
The impact method is to use high-speed and high-pressure water to break the molten steel, so that the liquid metal falls into the water to cool and solidify, and finally into a pellet. The disadvantage of this method is that the hollow rate of the steel shot is high, and it is easy to form a special-shaped shot.
The centrifugal method is to pour molten steel into a spinning plate that rotates at a high speed. There are many small holes around the spinning plate. Under the action of centrifugal force, the molten steel flies out of the spinning plate and falls into the water to cool into pellets. The effect of centrifugal method into pellets is much better than that of impact method, which greatly reduces the proportion of hollow steel pellets.
The atomization method is actually a combination of the impact method and the centrifugal method. The molten steel is first placed on the surface of the rotating cone with a special device to form a liquid metal film, and then atomized into fine droplets under the action of centrifugal force and surface tension and thrown out. At the same time, the cooling water is sprayed along a position perpendicular to the direction of movement of the droplets, so that the droplets are rapidly cooled into pellets. The quality and comprehensive mechanical properties of the steel pellets produced by this method are very good.
